While viruses are often regarded as enemies of humans and animals, did you know they can also be valuable allies in the fight against cancer? Exploring these two sides of viruses is precisely the aim of the Doctor Mérieux Museum of Biological Sciences’ temporary exhibition, “Cancers: The Hidden Side of Viruses.” The exhibition examines the links between viruses and cancer to better understand how cancers can be prevented, and treated.

Viruses are responsible for 8% of new cancer cases worldwide, representing approximately one in twelve cancers. This is the case, for example, with the human papillomavirus (HPV) and certain hepatitis viruses. Yet viruses can also become powerful weapons against cancer through innovative immunotherapy approaches.

Discover these two-faced viruses through a captivating exhibition design that immerses visitors in the worlds of laboratories and biotechnology. The exhibition is available in French and English, and is recommended for visitors aged 15 and over.

Enjoy your visit!
